bschoenbaechler SBC Fulfillment to become Integracore Atlanta, LLC
2010.07.01 22:17:34

167903_logo_finalTo bring better service to their customers and expand their market reach, Atlanta-based fulfillment company, SBC Fulfillment will enter into a joint venture agreement starting July 1, 2010. The decision to partner with Utah-based fulfillment company, Integracore came after SBC Fulfillment President, Brian Schoenbaechler wanted to have a stronger east coast presence with the option of expanding into the west coast region.

"After 14 years in business this was the next logical step to position ourselves for growth while continuing to provide topnotch service to our customers," says Schoenbaechler.

Integracore and SBC Fulfillment will share 60,000 square feet of warehouse space located in Austell, Georgia. The move will allow both companies to expand their operations and if all goes according to plan, their space could jump to over 600,000 square feet over the next 2-3 years, according to Integracore CEO, Ted Broman. Integracore''s Utah warehouses currently exceed 620,000 square feet, which is exactly the growth that both Broman and Schoenbaechler would like to mirror in Georgia.

Besides changing it’s name to Integracore Atlanta, LLC, SBC Fulfillment is slated to launch their new website on July 6, 2010. SBC''s clients can expect to get the same level of customer service and attention. "Our clients are our number one priority. Nothing will change for them, in fact, this will allow more opportunity for their growth as well," says Schoenbaechler.

Be sure to check back next week for updates and a link to their new site.

bschoenbaechler SBC Fulfillment Customer Spotlight: WVO Designs
2010.05.18 00:10:22
kitting
In the wake of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill accident that occurred on April 20, 2010, comes the perfect opportunity to highlight SBC’s newest client, WVO Designs. The alternative energy and biofuel company manufacturers Centrifuges that allow diesel powered vehicles to convert to alternative energy. WVO got it’s start in 2008 when founder and engineer, Leon Griffin decided to build a kit that would allow his diesel powered car to run exclusively on vegetable oil. “I just woke up one morning and decided that this is what I wanted to do,” says Griffin.

After experiencing success, he decided to share his designs on a website to anyone that wanted to incorporate these kits and his enthusiasm. However, he soon discovered that most individuals would prefer to purchase complete Centrifuges rather than track down individual parts and components.

Griffin turned to SBC Fulfillment to help WVO fulfill their growing client list and orders. Before joining SBC, WVO was handling all fulfillment and inventory management in-house. “I literally did everything out of my garage, myself,” says Griffin. WVO’s components are currently manufactured in the United States and China then shipped to SBC where they are warehoused, kitted and shipped globally to WVO''s clients.

For Griffin, the biggest have an impact on of using SBC has been the ability to save time. “Fulfillment is not my business expertise, having access to their SmartTurn warehouse management system gave me real time access to inventory and lowers my overhead cost per sales item.”

WVO decided to go with SBC Fulfillment after learning about MagentoConnect, an application that allows web shopping cart systems to integrate into SBC’s fulfillment services. Additionally, SBC has been able to further customize the integration between WVO’s web cart system. “Once we got started working together, the experience has been awesome. SBC is always responsive and capable of much more than I expected,” says Griffin.

bschoenbaechler Tips on finding the right outsourcing partner
2010.04.09 17:12:47

by Angela Cavallari Walker

Approximately 20% of businesses are currently outsourcing their fulfillment and only 4% of companies are considering using an outside source, says a survey on Operations & Fulfillment conducted by Multichannel Merchant’s Outlook 2010. Additionally, the same percentage of respondents outsource their call center services while 14% of respondents are strongly considering using a call center service.

However, industry experts expect this percentage to rise. One cited reason is the realization that operations can be better controlled by outsourcing to a reputable company. Most importantly, this gives companies the opportunity to focus on merchandising and marketing-the core to sustaining and increasing sales.

While it may have made financial sense a decade ago to handle fulfillment internally, business owners now have to manage the current rising costs of fulfillment. In most cases, direct merchants are able to reduce overall internal fulfillment costs by outsourcing.

Buying Power

The biggest fulfillment expense lies in shipping product to the end customer. Fulfillment outsourcing can reduce a company's internal fulfillment cost through shipping volumes which directly effects freight expenditures.  One key advantage to outsourcing is technology. Order fulfillment companies such as, SBC Fulfillment, spend the investment of researching and purchasing software that supports payment method systems. Recently, SBC added a QuickBooks Connector that directly ties into their online (WMS) Warehouse Management System, SmartTurn.

However, outsourcing does carry some risk. Pick a company that doesn’t understand your industry and products and you could be in hot water. If you do decide to outsource, here are some factors to consider.

-Current Costs You will want to include all your current expenditures to make a sound decision. Be sure to also calculate the current cost of technology, warehousing overhead, hiring and time. Your total annual costs will allow you to better calculate your savings.

-One size does not fit all Each merchant is as unique as their product. When choosing a vendor, be sure that they can or have had experience working with the same or similar merchandise as yours.

-Investigate inventory capabilities One of your largest considerations should be what type of tools your potential vendor uses. Fulfillment services can vary based on their experience with their clients past and current inventory. Improper management of your inventory can not only cause you to lose customers but will severely damage your business’s reputation.

-Pay a visit Before signing on the bottom line, you will want to take a tour of your potential vendor’s site. This may involve sitting in on phone calls (if you are considering call center outsourcing) or taking a tour of their warehouse. Pay particular attention to the rhythm of their operations and determine if that meets yours as well. This would also be a great opportunity to meet your assigned client manager should you decide to go with them.

-Take their services for a test drive Most reputable vendors will allow you to try out their services during a trial period. This can help you evaluate their communication systems, reporting capabilities and day-to-day operations.

-Negotiate your needs When it comes to contract length you will want to go with a term that makes the most sense for your potential vendor and your company. Contracts ranging between two and three years is a good start. Be sure to also cover any potential price increases that might arise in the future.

-Stay involved Keep your vendor informed of any company changes that would directly affect the execution of their services.

bschoenbaechler Logistics survey shows shrinking support for 3PL industry
2010.01.22 02:08:47

warehouse

by Angela Cavallari Walker

According to a survey conducted by The Logistics & Supply Chain Forum, a large percentage of companies are not currently working with a 3PL or third party logistics company.

Of those surveyed, 23% felt that other fulfillment options were a better fit for their companies. One cited reason for this response was the belief that business owners could better control the level of service, cost and quality. Almost half of the other respondents had not even taken the time to review or weigh the option of using a third-party logistics provider.

Fulfillment outsourcing offers many opportunities for companies to control the shipping and fulfillment process without the hidden headaches associated with managing a warehouse, staff and equipment. Most fulfillment outsourcing now includes access to technological offerings such as a Warehouse Management System (WMS.) These systems are integral to the success of managing the storage and movement of inventory in a warehouse and depending on the level or tier can cost anywhere from $35,000 up to $2,500,000.

For fulfillment outsourcing companies such as, SBC Fulfillment, it was important to offer all the access to this technology as well as the control that business owners seek. "Technology continues to be a big driver in our service offerings," says SBC President Brian Schoenbaechler. SBC refers to their Warehouse Management System, SmartTurn as the "glass warehouse" effect, where companies still have the control to view what is going on with their inventory anytime from anywhere.

More reputable fulfillment services companies, such as SBC Fulfillment offer a dedicated client account manager and a customer service support team. By outsourcing their fulfillment, business owners are better able to hold fulfillment companies accountable to a higher level of service.

Perhaps the most surprising feedback from this survey is the amount of opportunity still on the table for both the fulfillment and 3PL industries.

bschoenbaechler Retail industry shows financial promise in 2010
2010.01.16 00:57:28

by Angela Cavallari Walker

According to a statement released by AmericasMart Atlanta, the U.S. economy presents a positive outlook in the new year for the retail industry. The giant marketplace will host eight shows throughout 2010 featuring local and international vendors.

The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market Show held earlier this month set new benchmarks and record buying. One reason for this upward trend is the expansion of new product categories and product introductions. Increasingly, retailers, manufacturers, and importers looking to gain exposure of their newly introduced products are turning to these shows to debut their wares.

Exhibitors continue to be a mixed bag of specialty shops, first-timers, multi-store retailers and longtime AmericasMart vendors. One newcomer, Cumberland Designs was able to successfully promote two new products. The online retailer carries a line of collegiate logo products including: pumpkins, wax and LED candles.

Cumberland partnered with SBC Fulfillment last year to design and create their website using Magento-a leading eCommerce software. Additionally, SBC handles Cumberland's fulfillment services including: warehousing, kitting, packaging and shipping.

AmericasMart hopes that this momentum will continue to bring back confidence for consumers and retailers in and beyond 2010.

bschoenbaechler Recession brings options for holiday consumers
2009.12.19 03:44:52
warehouse

by Angela Cavallari Walker

The National Retail Federation's 2008 Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, conducted by BIGresearch, says U.S. shoppers will be driven by price and alternatives to credit cards when making holiday buying decisions this year.

"With major credit card issuers tightening their lending standards and with shrinking consumer credit lines, some people may not have the disposable income, access to credit cards or the ability to qualify for customary financing in order to purchase," says Richard Carrano, President and CFO for Purchasing Power.

Atlanta-based, Purchasing Power offers a unique approach to spending this holiday season. The buying program which is available to individuals through participating employers and organizations allows employees to pay for name brand products through payroll deductions. "Our program offers a safe, reliable alternative for employees to continue to purchase much-needed gifts for the holidays," says Carrano.

Participants can shop, order and ship high ticket items such as home appliances, electronics and computers. Unlike traditional layaway plans where items would need to be "payed off" before leaving the store, these products are shipped directly to your front door within a few weeks of ordering.

Hot-ticket items such as the Nintendo Wii game console continue to dominate holiday wish lists. "Purchasing Power has seen a record-breaking holiday selling season this year. Some of the hot products have been gaming, mp3 players, laptops and cameras," says Carrano. To meet this demand Purchasing Power joined fulfillment provider, SBC Fulfillment to store additional overflow products.

SBC’s 60,000 square feet of warehouse space is strategically located near Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and in the heart of Atlanta's business district. "We want to ensure that our clients and their client’s orders are stored and ready to be shipped at a moments notice," says Brian Schoenbaechler, President for SBC Fulfillment.

While the recent economy may have presented consumer challenges it also created opportunities.

bschoenbaechler Fulfillment companies a gift for online retailers
2009.12.12 03:23:31

warehouse

by Angela Cavallari Walker

According to a recent study conducted by Performics, online shopping got an early start this holiday season.  "2009 Online Buyer Econ

omic Trends" found that one in five consumers got a jump on the bustling season starting as early as September. Of those shoppers, 29% started sooner than prior years.

The confusion and stress of traditional black Friday shopping has pushed consumers to keyboards instead of parking lots.  "You have to decide what is worth your time and frustration," said online shopper Denise Wall.  For Wall, no-hassle ordering and free shipping were big factors for shopping at home this holiday.

Wall decided against standing in line for more than two hours at a local Wal-Mart, and stayed home to peruse online ads in her pajamas instead. Online shopping trends have E-commerce retailers scrambling to meet the early demands of consumers. Popular stores such as Lands End and Zappos.com promoted their black Friday sales and wares to compete with more traditional brick-and-mortar retailers like Wal-Mart and Target.

By outsourcing their fulfillment needs, online retailers can compete in a hard economy and make a lasting impression during the busy holiday season. "Retailers are able to concentrate on product development and marketing," says Brian Schoenbaechler President of SBC Fulfillment.

Fulfillment companies offer more than just pick-pack-and-ship operations, and the E-commerce industry has taken notice. Full-service fulfillment solutions are now specialized to meet the unique requirements of retailers. This year, SBC rolled out a new E-commerce application called Magento Connect, which allows online retailers to directly tie-into SBC''''s fulfillment products.

"We can offer online retailers the leverage to make a lasting first impression for their business during the peak holiday season and throughout the new year,” says Schoenbachler.

bschoenbaechler SBC client brings extensive line of products to the table
2009.11.24 20:27:04

by Angela Cavallari Walker

SBC Fulfillment would like to welcome it's newest client, Cox Culinary Emporium. In this article, we will focus on those beautiful place settings through the eyes of a fulfillment company.  How does that elegant stemware find its way into the hands of party goers and guests? Here is the backstory to those special occasion settings.

A Seamless Process

Christmas is right around the corner, and fulfillment companies such as SBC are also gearing up. Take for instance that cocktail plate your coconut shrimp and dip are delicately resting on. What about that robust red wine that you are sipping in that beautifully-etched goblet? The process of getting those items into the hands of catering and party planners is accomplished through many solutions, including: kitting and assembly , packing, warehousing, order management, and customer service support . The first step involves the kitting and assembly process. Cox wanted the ability to focus on their core business without the distraction of having to organize and physically manage their inventory.

Their diverse items are ordered directly from the manufacturer and shipped to SBC where they are kitted and assembled . The kitting process refers to the act of picking parts or products from stock that require packaging. Items such as Cox's BPA-free LANITA WARE champagne flutes are picked by part number.  SBC's staff carefully packages each product and stores them in their 60,000 square feet of warehouse space. Cox is able to view product inventory such as their Clear Universal Utensil (an environmentally-friendly and elegant spork) at any time, from any computer with internet access.

Focusing on your business needs

Because Cox wanted to continue to market and grow their line of products, utilizing SBC's seasoned and knowledgeable customer service team was a must. By outsourcing this support, Cox can also avoid the expense of hiring and training a full customer support staff.

About the Client

Cox Culinary Emporium is an Atlanta-based company that serves up a line of LANITA WARE -a proprietary, dishwasher safe and BPA-free collection of plates, utensils and drink ware. Their extensive line of serving ware is casual enough for a barbeque but classy enough for a cocktail party.

bschoenbaechler
bschoenbaechler What business owners should know before outsourcing their fulfillment
2009.11.13 22:27:24

warehouse

by Angela Cavallari Walker

Today's small business owners are turning to fulfillment outsourcing as a way to reduce their shipping costs, manage and control their inventory and streamline their processes. According to Brian Schoenbaechler, President of SBC Fulfillment, this not only gives merchants more control of shipping and packaging costs but allows owners to focus on increasing their bottom line. “Business owners want to spend more time on what they do best, which is running their business,” says Schoenbaechler.  Here are a few questions and answers to help navigate the best time and solution when seeking a fulfillment partner.

What is fulfillment outsourcing?
Simply stated, fulfillment outsourcing is the practice of using an outside vendor to store inventory and ship product to customers as orders are received. Other terms related to outsourcing fulfillment include: 3PL (third Party Logistics), outsourced warehousing and distribution centers. Over the years, fulfillment outsourcing has become a preferred method of managing back-office operations. Companies such as, SBC Fulfillment focus on handling this arduous task which can be costly and time-consuming.

Why not rent or build your own warehouse space?
According to Schoenbaechler, the estimated cost of renting and maintaining just 20,000 square feet of warehouse space can run as high as 100,000 annually. “This doesn't include other variables such as the liability of hiring employees to manage this space,” says Schoenbaechler.  Fulfillment companies are able to charge merchants a fixed cost for only the space that they use to store their inventory. Additionally, fulfillment companies typically offer larger warehouse space enabling merchants to expand and grow their business.

What role can a fulfillment network play in the world of Ecommerce?
Whether you are using USPS, FedEx, or UPS to deliver your goods your shipping was already being outsourced. Today, fulfillment companies are turning to technology to ease outsourcing for Ecommerce and traditional merchants. This “glass warehouse” concept gives businesses the ability to view their inventory, track and ship their orders all online from anywhere.  SBC has taken this technology a step further by offering a product called, Magento Connect - an application that allows current or new Magento customers to plug into SBC's warehouse management system.

When should a business consider outsourcing fulfillment?
Every business is different but all share the common goal of increasing productivity and profit. Here are some points to ponder when thinking of a good time to outsource.

Growth periods- As business sales increase so do does the need to be prepared to handle the volume without any hiccups.

Reducing costs- Outsourcing is a good way to view your current expenditures and cut your current costs.

Global growth- International growth can be risky. By outsourcing you assume less of that risk and are able to test the market without investing additional time and cost.

What should businesses look for when seeking a fulfillment company?
A good place to start would be through a referral. This could be a fellow business owner that you trust or through the Better Business Bureau .  Either way, you want to find a fulfillment partner that you can trust.  Here are a few other questions you should ask before making a decision.

Do you offer a trial period?  Before handing over your entire inventory see if the fulfillment company can provide a trial period for a smaller amount of inventory.

What software platform do they offer?  You will want to make sure that you are able to plug into their warehouse management system without the cost of purchasing software.

What is the location of their warehouse? Is the warehouse location/locations centrally located to where you will be shipping?

What are the terms and pricing of their contracts? Be sure to look for hidden costs and long-term contracts.

bschoenbaechler Online retailers more likely to use regional fulfillment says study
2009.11.06 18:30:22

by Angela Cavallari Walker

In a new study titled: “E-Commerce Trends for 1010” conducted by FFP Global, found that online businesses and retailers are more likely to use regional fulfillment companies.  According to the latest study, the largest cited reason for this trend is the lower shipping costs and the faster turnaround in delivering these products to consumers.

Regional fulfillment companies such as Atlanta-based,  SBC Fulfillment are able to offer low-cost shipping charges while increasing their clients'''' operations.  SBC''s SmartTurn Warehouse Management System is an invaluable tool that allows fulfillment customers to order, ship and track those orders all online from anywhere. “In talking with our customers, we found that technology played a big role in providing the most comprehensive fulfillment process”, says SBC President Brian Schoenbaechler.  SBC''s 60,000 square feet of warehouse space is strategically located near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the heart of Atlanta''s busiest industrial park.

FFP projects that our current economic situation will continue to pressure online retailers into meeting the demands of deal-seeking consumers and faster shipping windows.

The study also found that fuel costs were a big driver for retailers to seek regional fulfillment providers.  For e-commerce companies this solves two problems: reducing fuel surcharges and increasing delivery times.  Another fulfillment trend that will continue includes the ability to drop-ship directly from manufactures to retailers'' customers.

In order to effectively drop-ship, retailers need a comprehensive order management and customer contact system that can seamlessly communicate with suppliers.  "We work closely with our merchants to ensure the most accuracy," says Schoenbaechler.

Customer service and mobile commerce will continue to play a role as regional fulfillment companies strive to meet these challenges.

bschoenbaechler SBC Fulfillment brings cutting edge technology to fit clients' needs
2009.10.22 18:19:19

When Brian Schoenbaechler, President and CEO of SBC Fulfillment, was seeking a WMS (Warehouse Management System) he wanted a solution that would bring together two key technology components to his customers: collaboration and communication. “In talking with customers and prospects, they wanted to be able to see their inventory from anywhere,” says Schoenbaechler. This solution can be best described by SBC as a “glass warehouse” where clients are able to order, ship, track and view their entire inventory.

The solution? SmartTurn, an on demand inventory and warehouse management system with all the tools that businesses need to succeed from a fulfillment standpoint. As a small company, SBC Fulfillment needed to have high technology to position themselves as a leader in the industry.

The biggest deciding factors for SBC involved cost and a team that would be able to support their needs and their clients'' needs. “The setup process was so easy and seamless for us, and their technology team was very informed,” says Schoenbaechler.   The biggest impact for SBC has been the reaction from customers and prospects. The lower cost and higher functionality has allowed SBC to position themselves as a fulfillment solutions leader.  “Overall we are a better value to our customers.”

Recently, SBC expanded it''s offerings to include a Magento application. Magento is a powerful e-commerce platform that allows online merchants to begin and expand their growth. As SBC''s customers began moving their e-commerce to Magento, SBC set out to bridge the gap between their existing technology and SBC''s technological offerings allowing them to tie into SBC''s fulfillment services. The developed integration is called, Magento Connect- an easy integrable solution very similar to Apple''s popular iphone applications.

According to Schoenbaechler, rising energy costs are going to lead to more localized fulfillment and distribution. SmartTurn allows SBC''s customers to have several locations. “They have solved a lot of the challenges of multi-locations from the IT perspective.”

bschoenbaechler SBC Fulfillment supplies surge of solutions to meet client's needs
2009.09.16 02:31:18
warehouse

This month''s customer spotlight is on Innovolt, Inc. The Atlanta-based company was able to reduce its fulfillment costs and enhance its services through SBC Fulfillment''s automated WMS, or Warehouse Management System.

Innovolt got it''s start in 2005 when Georgia Institute of Technology professor Dr. Deepak Divan came up with the idea for a surge protector and LED (light emitting diode) lighting that could detect the cause of a change in voltage. The idea grew out of Georgia Tech''s laboratory at the Atlanta Technology Development Center.

Innovolt''s surge protector technology called CVSS, or Current and Voltage Surge Suppression, is smarter than other conventional surge protectors that only detect when lightning is the culprit in lost voltage.

"What differentiates us is our ''smart surge'' protection units, which have diagnostic capabilities built into them," says Lanecia Baldwin Operations Manager for Innovolt.

This technology can also tell Innovolt''s clients such as DB South, whether or not the voltage was over or under. Baldwin adds, "innovolt can offer companies power monitoring and power protection in one device."  It''s like a surge protector with a brain.

Stream-lined process

Innovolt''s surge protectors are manufactured in India, so finding a solution to getting the product imported and shipped to its U.S. distributors was key. Innovolt needed a fulfillment solution that allowed them to internationally import their products, ship to distributors, reduce operational costs, and provide a system that could track the orders.

"We were unhappy with our current provider and needed someone to handle these services and cut costs," says Baldwin.

SBC was able to import the manufactured servers from India, and ship directly to distributors.

"One unique thing we are doing for Innovolt is drop-shipping for some of their distributors, so the distributor does not have to have capital in inventory.  So Innovolt makes a higher margin," says Brian Schoenbaechler, President and CEO for SBC Fulfillment.

The result was reduced shipping and distribution costs, and enhanced services. Innovolt''s team has been most impressed with SBC''s automated system. "You can enter, see inventory, and pull tracking information," adds Baldwin.  "I really love how automated the process has been."

bschoenbaechler Fulfillment company to provide simpler solution to outsourcing
2009.09.11 22:45:43
by Angela Cavallari Walker

Outsourcing your fulfillment needs just got easier with a new e-commerce website application called Magento Connect. Atlanta-based shipping and fulfillment company, SBC Fulfillment announced today that it would roll out this new application in September, which will allow current and potential customers who utilize Magento''s e-commerce sites to outsource their shipping and fulfillment services with one keystroke.

SBC Fulfillment and Magento collaborated to create a bridge for those that already use Magento''s e-commerce product, but are seeking ways to reduce their shipping and inventory costs through outsourcing. The application ties into SBC''S comprehensive Warehouse Management System, and allows clients to inventory, package, ship, track and manage their orders.

Typically, businesses would have shouldered the expenses associated with building their own data integration piece, and purchasing/managing the WMS or warehouse management system.

According to SBC President and CEO, Brian Schoenbachler, this application is very similar to computer and software company Apple''s app store, but with no additional cost to companies that outsource their fulfillment services to SBC. "The purpose of the connector is to make us the most Magento-friendly fulfillment house on the internet", says Schoenbachler.

SBC e-commerce and fulfillment client, Nature''s Cradle Foods is the first business to go live with this exciting new technology and Brian couldn''t be more thrilled with the results. "This application will make it easier than ever for customers to integrate their fulfillment services."

For companies that need an e-commerce site built, SBC could create one using Magento''s state-of-the-art e-commerce platform. Magento''s features include: marketing and promotions tools, reporting, search engine optimization (URLs and Google site map), site management, catalog management/browsing, mobile commerce (iphone optimization), and checkout and payment management.

bschoenbaechler Outdoors shop gears up its e-commerce site with SBC Fulfillment
2009.08.27 19:08:11

by Angela Cavallari Walker

Local outdoors store The Gear Revival sets their sights on increasing its online sales through fulfillment company’s e-commerce offerings.

North by southeast

The Gear Revival specializes in selling new and refurbished outdoor equipment to enthusiasts at its retail Atlanta location and ships online orders all over the United States.

TGR virtually got its start in April of 2005 when founders Mitch Davis and David Kramer were looking for ways to recoup money from leftover outdoor product samples. At the time, Davis and Kramer were traveling salesmen hawking various outerwear to stores as far away as Seattle, Washington. “At the end of the selling season we were stuck with all these sample overcoats with no way to get our money back”, says Davis.

The idea came to them to unload their wares at a discounted rate on the popular reseller site, Ebay. They soon found themselves unable to keep up with the demand and in June 2006 their virtual store became a reality when The Gear Revival opened its brick-and-mortar doors in downtown Atlanta.

Back to their roots

For owner Mitch Davis an online presence is key when dealing with seasonal outdoor gear. “Part of it is the south has limited cold weather”, says Davis. Atlantans tend to be transplants from around the country and globe. Most will choose colder environments, be it their hometown or a vacation destination.

According to Davis, approximately 30% of their inventory is made up of gently-used and refurbished products varying from kayaks to backpacks. These second hand items add up to big savings for outdoor enthusiasts. To reach those out-of-state customers you need to have a strong e-commerce site. Davis, who has been unhappy with his current e-commerce software, was looking for better reporting and an easier way to process online credit card orders and tie in a shipping solution.

bschoenbaechler Fulfillment company to provide a simpler solution to outsourcing
2009.08.18 00:49:21
by Angela Cavallari Walker

Outsourcing your fulfillment needs just got easier with a new e-commerce website application called Magento Connect. Atlanta-based shipping and fulfillment company, SBC Fulfillment announced today that it would roll out this new application in September, which will allow current and potential customers who utilize Magento''s e-commerce sites to outsource their shipping and fulfillment services with one keystroke.

SBC Fulfillment and Magento collaborated to create a bridge for those that already use Magento''s e-commerce product, but are seeking ways to reduce their shipping and inventory costs through outsourcing. The application ties into SBC''S comprehensive Warehouse Management System, and allows clients to inventory, ship, track and manage their orders.

For companies that need an e-commerce site built, SBC Fulfillment could create one using Magento''s state-of-the-art e-commerce platform. Magento''s features include: marketing and promotions tools, reporting, search engine optimization (URLs and Google site map), site management, catalog management/browsing, mobile commerce (iphone optimization), and checkout and payment management.

Are Supply Chains Becoming More Regional?

According to an article posted on FT.com, a leading business information website, “Manufacturers are abandoning global supply chains for regional ones in a big shift brought about by the financial crisis and climate change concerns.” Gerard Kleisterlee, chief executive of Philips, one of Europe’s biggest companies, told the Financial Times, “A future where energy is more expensive and less plentifully available will lead to more regional supply chains.”

bschoenbaechler Back to school comes early for SBC client, Hal Leonard
2009.07.28 21:55:10

by Angela Cavallari Walker

You may have heard of longtime SBC Fulfillment client Hal Leonard-literally! For the past 60 years they have been putting sheet music and instructional books into the hands of eager students young and old alike.

Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this company got it''s start in the late 1930s when brothers Harold "Hal" Edstrom, Everett Edstrom, and close friend Roger Busdicker formed a successful dance band. The Edstroms'' father was not thrilled about the prospect of his sons becoming traveling musicians, so Hal and Everett decided to merge their names and became known as the Hal Leonard band. The name not only stuck for the band, but for band leader Everett as well.

Eventually the Hal Leonard Band broke up, and then in 1947 after a successful run at directing high school bands Hal and Roger formed the Hal Leonard print and publishing company. It was their talent for orchestrating mainstream musical hits into school band arrangements that got the attention of other band directors throughout the United States.

Today, Hal Leonard''s printed books and music materials are sold in 65 countries and 7,500 stores and distributors throughout the United States and Canada. Since 1998 SBC Fulfillment has been the state depository and a distributor in Georgia for Hal Leonard.

Throughout the summer months, SBC Fulfillment warehouses, inventories, and ships these textbooks to classrooms in Georgia before the start of the school year. And for students that is music to their ears.
